It's definitely true, you get out of your digital presence what you put into it.  However, Second Story Designs has a mission to not just give you a collection of tools, usernames and URLs, but rather an asset list.  These properties are your assets.  They're not simply line items on your credit card statement or meaningless avatars on some social scape.  These electronic entities are the digital extension of your business.

You need to have a repeatable, sustainable process to manage, maintain and utilize these assets.  You need to be able to extend and improve them on your own and on your own timetable.  A digital asset should be treated in the same way as a physical one.  Whether you are maintaining tables and chairs in a restaurant or washing a service truck, you are maintaining these assets because they are necessary to your business and a reflection of it.
